Austin Faber is a two-time Annie Award–nominated Story Artist, Director, and Character Designer whose bold, emotionally resonant storytelling has helped shape some of today’s most beloved animated series — including The Owl House, The Cuphead Show!, and Jessica’s Big Little World.
A graduate of Sheridan College, Austin began his career as a Disney Television Animation intern before moving to Netflix, where he contributed to The Witch Boy as both a Story and Visual Development Artist. His work is recognized for its cinematic clarity, warmth, and sharp comedic timing — hallmarks that reflect his deep love of character-driven storytelling. Beyond his studio work, Austin is the co-founder and executive director of Black N Animated, a nonprofit organization uplifting Black professionals in animation. Through BNA, he’s built mentorship networks, produced live events and fellowship programs, and partnered with major studios to create pathways for emerging Black talent. Austin also teaches Storyboarding for Animation at CG Master Academy and is a dedicated mentor, known for guiding artists toward storytelling that feels as intentional as it is imaginative. His creative philosophy centers on empathy, humor, and craft — using animation not just to entertain, but to reveal truth through character and design. When he’s not drawing, he’s usually cooking, exploring L.A. with friends, or being bossed around by his two cats and an extremely opinionated Siberian husky. |
